The improvement of pregnancy rates by 20% with the method of cryopreservation in IVF was one of the remarks of the 5th Embryolab Academy.
Embryolab, one of the world’s leading units in assisted reproduction, has established the International Educational Organization called Embryolab Academy, whose goal is to educate scientists from all over the world on new laboratory and clinical techniques.
From 17-19 September, Embryolab has successfully organized its 5th International Scientific Symposium on “Cryopreservation of gametes, embryos and reproduction tissues” at Makedonia Palace Hotel in Thessaloniki.
More than 60 scientists specialized in assisted reproduction techniques from Europe, the United States, Asia and Africa honored with their presence the three day convention.
Dr. Martine Nijs, director of The Embryolab Academy and clinical embryologist, Mrs Alexia Chatziparasidou, director of Embryolab Clinic and clinical embryologist, as well as Dr. Nikos Christoforidis, clinical director of Embryolab Clinic and gynecologist specializing in assisted reproduction, had the overall design and editing of the Symposium.
The proceedings of the symposium were welcomed by the director of the Academy, Dr Martine Nijs, who presented its vision and made a short recursion on the educational conferences that have been organized in the last three years, while mentioning the ones that are planned to take place in the near future in Greece and abroad.
“Embryolab Academy”, she mentioned, “has become an institution and acquires global recognition for both its highly scientific level, as well as for the opportunity that gives to scientists from all around the world to communicate and exchange views”.
Distinguished proponents, with global recognition for their scientific work, from the USA, Italy, Holland, the UK, Denmark, Belgium and Greece have presented all new data on :
• The efficacy and safety of oocyte cryopreservation for women who wish to preserve their fertility for medical or social reasons and the awaited benefits that each woman can expect from this procedure.
• Sperm or testicular tissue cryopreservation for men whose fertility is either reduced or they are about to go through medical procedures that can affect their fertility.
• The expected benefits of cryopreserving embryos or oocytes for couples that suffer hereditary diseases by using pre-implantation diagnosis methods.
• Births after freezing, de-freezing and after using ovarian tissue to women with cancer.
The convention was concluded with the demonstration of new methods on cryopreserving oocytes, sperm, embryos as well as reproductive tissues, like testicular and ovarian tissues, in the specialized premises of Embryolab Clinic. All participants had the chance to be educated on the new techniques supervised by specialists of the field.
Embryolab Academy, continuing its brilliant course announced the next two upcoming educational conventions, in Rio Brazil (11-12 December 2015 and in Louvain Belgium (18-19 March 2016)
